year the Sulky Thread Company has a Sulky Thread Challenge. This is a contest to use their
decorative threads in creative ways. Emma Gene Sulky ’97 won Third Place in the Doll
Category in 1997 and traveled throughout the US for the following year. She is silk
fabric, embellished with several decorative stitches in several colors with beads sewn to
the center of some of the motifs. She is standing on a pillow of visionary thread spools.
